I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
But not so good since it makes one more depressed, doesn't it?
Caught the Passion of the Christ with the gals on Thursday. Aside from all that violence, I actually really liked the movie. Mel Gibson did a great job of giving his message without being preachy (though I suppose that made viewers a little confused, like as Wei Wei said, what message were they supposed to get?). I guess the movie touched me, and I'm glad that I saw it. It really made me sit down and think about priorities. It was simple but effective, showing but not explicitly telling. Monica Bellucci was also an excellent Mary. You could really feel for her throughout the movie. Great imagery (Baofei and Hui Ling liked the "I'm here" flashback, but I'm sticking with the sandal), and a simple but remarkably powerful ending. The only gripe that I have about it is that it could start to make Christianity pop-culturish, which is kind of worrisome. Mainstream, but is it sincere? And the motives? But then again, who am I to judge?
On a lighter note.
Got A2 for PW! I am certainly more than satisfied. Hui Ling got an A1, which I think was indeed well-deserved. I really have to thank her. Don't know where our project would have gone without her. I'm glad to have gotten that horrible ordeal over and done with. Although of course, when I think back, it's all hugely funny. HL and MH constantly bickering, the stupid flowchart that kept falling apart, MH and JX's "conclusion"... guess it did teach me something by being more tolerant of others! Thank goodness MH didn't get A1, or I think the rest of us would be jumping off some building now... it'll be like JX and MH going to B01 and me and Hui Ling getting booted to B03 and 4 all over again... hahahaha
Also went to Ning's guitar concert on Friday night. It was quite an experience 'cos I've never been to an actual classical guitar concert. It was also fun to go with Huixin- even though in a way she's kind of Ning's friend I always feel comfortable with her. It's all a matter of all of us being on the same wavelength I suppose. We kept making mean comments about the unprofessional photographers and poser electrical guitarists. :) I enjoyed the concert, and though I probably can't appreciate guitar music, there was professionalism, it was a spirited performance, and there was a sense of unity. Congrats Ning!!! Really proud of you! Introduce me to your "good-looking" friend next time k? Okay just kidding. Do you find my taste in guys that bad? :) :) I'm going mad now...
And the beginning of another long week ahead...
