My sis is watching a show called "The Social History of Concerts" on TV. Hmm. How stage diving was invented? And the "raise-the-roof" gesture? And did you know that before lightsticks were used, people waved their cigarette lighters? Fascinating.

Saw "Saved!" today! It's a sweet and meaningful film, no matter what a lot of people think. I do like that *overused* quote though: "Why would God make us so different if He wanted us to be all the same?" Actually teared at some parts. Not the greatest of scripts, but the cast is great and they do have chemistry. Go catch it when it's still showing, it only has limited screening at Cathay.

Ning is obsessed with Garden State and she's influencing me too. Do check out the trailer! It has been called "a film that defines a generation." It's so exciting! Really hope that it's released here.

Supposedly Jude Law is in no less than six films this fall. I certainly don't see that. (Except for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, of which I am extremely apprehensive and don't think I should waste my money on, even if it IS Jude Law.) Am awaitng

And so it ends.
Woohoo! Please remind me that there's still the A-levels. But for now, I'm happy.

Saved! has made it to cinemas, though slapped with a pretty laughable M-18 rating after all the she-bang about it being detrimental to our religious values. Um, it stars Mandy Moore? Oh well. I'm just glad that I'll be 18 next month so they'll PROBABLY let me in. I hope they do. It'll be ridiculous if they don't. Can't wait to see it!

Went out after econs to celebrate Baofei's extra belated bday. The Marche's at Suntec has a really nice atmosphere! Was trying to learn decorating tips from it so I can decorate my house next time. So we just stuffed ourselves and gave Baoz her card and cake. And headed outside to eat it. (Since we were told curtly that we would have to pay and extra 20 dollars to eat in within the premises.) Yup so it was basically most of my class wandering around the corridor outside Marche's eating cake out of stolen napkins with posh shops surrounding us. Quite an amusing sight, really. [Yes, pics are up!]

Oh, Jeff Buckley's on VH1. And he's got a really lovely unique voice! Dang Mel, why do you have such good taste in music?! Haha. And did you know John Mayer was touring with Counting Crows in the US? Argh!

Movie Bites

Girl with a Pearl Earring
Only saving grace: Colin Firth. What was the big hoo-ha about Scarlett Johanssen for? I really don't know.

The Terminal
Only saving grace: Tom Hanks and DIEGO LUNA! Unfunny jokes. It creepily reminded me of On The Line. Sadly B-grade despite being helmed by Stephen Spielberg and Andrew Niccol. Many annoyingly unnecessary scenes.

Mystic River
Acting was excellent, and holds your attention until towards the ending where everything starts to get awry. There's probably something really deep and insightful that I'm supposed to get, but I don't. Maybe I should see it again. On second thoughts maybe not. It's kind of depressing.

Next up- Last Life In the Universe.
