Music is such a drug. It numbs pain, and makes you really believe that, somehow, you are good enough to change the world. It induces addiction and its immediate effects are temporary.
On the hand, like some medicine, when used appropriately, it actually does help you out.
I really hate makeup. I didn't think I really looked that much better for prom, maybe from a distance perhaps. And it is such a chore to remove afterwards. And if you're lucky enough to be allergic to foundation you wind up looking even worse than before you put on the gunk. I think I'll just lay off the stuff unless it's really really required for where I work next time.
What of our prom? Something I feel that I should blog about, but am lazy to remember the details. The actual prom was ok, much of my opinions have already been expressed by others so I guess it doesn't really matter. I guess the best part was just before the prom when me and Si Hui went to the room, rather late, I must add, after doing our makeup and stuff and you squeeze in with all the girls milling around the room, last minute touching up to makeup, seeing everyone all dolled up. Hui Ling constantly telling us how late is was and that we really should be getting downstairs, trying to find earrings and shoes, putting down your stuff somewhere in the ruckus and promptly mixing it up with someone else's, the guys getting ready in the next room and everyone not being able to recognize each other, the beautiful view from our room. That was pleasantly surreal.
And post prom we ran to change, intending to go clubbing, but being cheapo (especially me, I won't deny that) refused to pay the fee, and was extremely crowded anyhow. I could watch two bloody movies with that money! So four of us girls went walking along the Clarke Quay area, which perhaps wasn't the best idea in the wee hours of the morning, as mentioned in the previous post, and Hui Ling getting almost-attacked. We were pretty freaked after that and raced to 7-11 to hide. After that when we stopped to rest we would sit all facing different directions so no one could sneak up on us and when anyone seemed to be heading our way, we got up and left. Didn't want to take taxi either despite their abundance because of the seedy looking taxi-drivers, so luckily Wei Wei found a short-cut (well, shorter than when we walked out) back to the hotel. Spent the rest of the time sitting around chatting, and went down to the lobby around 4 am to chat some more 'cos we weren't tired and pretending Raffles the Plaza was our house. Finally went to sleep around 5 something or 6, and woke up at 7 to see the end of the sunrise. We had a perfect view of it! Wei Wei and Jie Li got some gorgerous pics of it.
Give to others, since nothing is more fulfilling. And don't expect anything back, 'cos you probably won't anyhow. Even if everyone else doesn't give a damn, you should never give up on yourself. And who cares about what people think about you anyway. I strive for that, no matter how cliched.
The wheel of my mouse keeps making freaky squeaky sounds. I thought it was something outside at first.
I really should be looking for stuff to put on our party CD. This is so much fun to play music that you want to play! And gals, you all are free to bring your CDs too.
I'm starting to fall asleep over the keyboard and my sis is nagging me to get off the computer after sitting here for a few hours. So I guess I'll continue next time if I feel like it.

Strolling along Boat Quay at about 2 am, then seeing 3(4?) tipsy twentysomething angmo men along the way.
Tipsy man 1: Hello ladies.
Tipsy man 2(pointing at tipsy man 1): His name is John.
Tipsy man 3: His favourite colour is red.
