I'm going to disappear to the States for about three weeks. Yay. Escapism calls. I'll update if I find an internet cafe along the way.

So... on Wednesday I received notice that I had been accepted into SMU. I'm very grateful but have mixed feelings about it all. Oh well, at least I still have some time to think. Serene & Baofei, let me know when you receive your Jumping Students envelope. Haha. I hope we can all go and chiong OBS together. So fun! Okay you can stop rolling your eyes now.
Anyway I went to the NUS Science Library (Hui Ling's future home! Haha) on Thursday to help photocopy science journals for my company. A rather dull job especially when I was mostly photocopying Chemistry journals- NMR spectrometers, chiral centres- felt like I was revising my whole JC syllabus all over again. Ugh. Well at least it wasn't Physics :) And the NUS campus is pretty nice. Quite airy and conducive. My first impression at least. Pity I most definitely won't be going to that section of the campus ever again. Ha. The canteen food at the Science block is good. AND there were two revolutionary people I met that day!
1) The auntie in charge of the photocopy area in the library was really really nice! Never had I met a nice photocopy auntie until today. Normally they just scowl at you, take lots of breaks and grumble when you jam the paper in the machine. The one at NUS was cheerful the whole day, chatting with the people who came and went, and always giving efficient help when you needed it, with a smile. Then when she's bored she'll walk around and teach the students/staff how to improve the quality of their prints. What I really admire about her was that she was really making the best out of her job. I take my hat off to her :)
2) The taxi-driver who drove my colleague and I back to the office took a longer route than necessary to drive us back to the office, and he was so cute and apologetic when he realized. He kept apologizing- "Uncle take you on merry-go-round already... so sorry ah!" Even though we kept saying it was okay, and we were actually glad to go back to the office later so we had less time to work! He thought we were uni students going home after school so he drove us to the housing area instead. My colleague was pleased because it meant that she looked young. Haha. But he couldn't stop saying sorry nonetheless, told us to tell our boss that it was "the stupid taxi driver's" fault if we got scolded, and refused to let us pay the full amount on his price meter and helped us manually write out a new receipt. He was damn funny. But it's so rare- normally the taxi driver would scold YOU for not telling him properly and make you pay the full price anyway. [remember, Mel? Haha]

Ushered at the Avril Lavigne concert. I was most excited when Pug Jelly popped out as the opening act when none of us knew they were going to be there. Sadly, the cute Japanese guitarist was at the opposite end of the stage from where I was posted. So i couldn't see him too well. Bah. Haha.
But I was quite impressed with Avril- her live singing has definitely improved and she did a good and true performance of I'm With You. Liked the last part when she swopped places with her band members, and played the drums while one of her band members sang. And the grand piano and stuff. She didn't banter with the audience much, if at all, but at least her concert was short and sweet so we managed to catch the last few buses home.
I watched Turn Left Turn Right [finally] on TV yesterday and was laughing non-stop. I myself do believe in the theory of everyone having an "other half" that they spend their lives looking for, but that show was still damn funny. I mean how can two people be so blur? I think it would be pretty disastrous if the two of them really got married. They probably would forget to go for their wedding. And though that Polish poem is nice it would be a lot nicer if they didn't repeat it 50,000 times, as though they were afraid we would forget it. And it's a pity 'cos the idea is good but it wasn't executed well. Anyway, Takeshi Kaneshiro IS as cute as a cartoon character!
